SureCal Tank
The SureCal tanks imported from the UK by Dieselheat are a high quality copper tank with 2 hydronic heating coils (connected in series for faster heating in RVs) and include the dual electric elements, making them the most versatile tank on the market. In addition, the copper construction allows very efficient heat transfer from the diesel furnace to the water in the tank, ensuring rapid heating. The SureCal tank also has an optional expansion tank for marine use to prevent the pressure relief valve from dripping into the bilge.
Diesel
On days when your batteries do not fully charge or when you need extra hot water, the system can be heated using the diesel furnace. The diesel booster can also be used to run optional hydronic air heating as well. For this system we use the premium Eberspacher D5E 1.3kW – 5kW hydronic furnace, the quietest and smoothest furnace on the market.
12v and 240V Power
The system utilises excess capacity in your existing solar system to heat your hot water once your batteries are fully charged. This is done using a solar diverter (not supplied as part of this kit)* to divert power from your solar panels when your batteries are charged. If your batteries start to drop, the diverter cuts out the heating element ensuring your batteries remain fully charged.
The system also includes a 240V element (combined with the 12v solar element) to allow heating when on mains power.
*The solar diverter is generally part of your solar charging system and is not part of this kit, please refer to your solar installer for details on how to either program your system or set up a diverter if your system does not support this function.
For more information on this system and setting up the solar diverter please see our Technical Paper on Diesel Solar Electric Hot Water
Note: This kit requires installation by a qualified electrician and integration with your existing solar charging system which may require specific solar/battery expertise.
