Many diesel heater problems aren’t due to failure or the need for servicing. Common issues include contaminated fuel, wasp nests in the exhaust, flat batteries, and other external factors.
Step 1: Basic Troubleshooting

Step 2: If the Heater Still Won’t Start
If basic troubleshooting doesn’t work, or you’ve identified a component failure, you have two options:
Option 1: Send Your Heater to Dieselheat for Repair
- Use Australia Post to send us the heater (see our servicing information and service submission form).
- Express Post usually takes 2–3 days to reach us.
- Once repaired, we can return it to a post office along your travel route.
- We’re experienced in handling heater repairs for travellers and prioritise quick turnarounds to keep you moving.
Option 2: DIY Repair
- If you’re mechanically inclined, contact us.
- Many simple issues can be fixed on the road.
- We can supply the necessary parts and for heaters under warranty full technical support.
